International Student Admissions
1. How do I begin the application process?
Start by connecting with our admissions team. We will guide you through the process and help you determine if Smithville is the right fit. Students who meet our admission criteria will be provided with an admissions package outlining the next steps.
2. How do I apply to Smithville Christian High School?
Once you have received the admissions package, you can complete the application form and submit all required documents. Our team will guide you through each step and support you throughout the process.
3. How competitive is the admissions process?
Admission to Smithville Christian High School is competitive, with international enrollment limited to approximately 15% of the student body each year.
We look for students who are prepared to succeed in an English-speaking academic environment. Students who have been educated in English may apply for Grades 9 through 12, while students without prior English instruction may apply for Grades 9 through 11.
Smithville also offers five levels of English as a Second Language (ESL) support to help students grow in confidence and succeed in the classroom.
3. What documents are required for admission?
Applicants will need to provide recent report cards or transcripts, a copy of their passport, and any additional supporting documents requested during the process.

Smithville Christian is not a boarding school, so international students will need to arrange their own accommodation. Many students stay with a guardian, relative, or host family in the local area.
6. Is a custodian or guardian required?
Yes. International students studying in Canada without a parent must have a legal custodian in Canada in order to obtain a study permit.
A custodian is a Canadian citizen or permanent resident who acts as a responsible adult while the student is studying in Canada. As part of the process, families and the custodian will complete a notarized Custodianship Declaration Form.

Whenever possible, we also encourage students to have a relative or trusted family connection nearby for additional support.
7. What should international students expect at Smithville?
International students are welcomed as full members of the school community and are expected to participate in all aspects of school life, including daily devotions and weekly chapel. Students are supported academically and personally within a Christ-centred environment where they are encouraged to grow and succeed.
